Stupid electric fuel filler flap has decided to play up, it has not locked in the time I've had the car now it sometimes gets stuck unlocked or locked.  :stupid: :fighting2:

New actuator required, looks a bit of a faff to do as well.

Fitted new fuel flap actuator part from VW £45 + VAT.

Pretty easy to do, torx 20 screw inside the fuel flap then prize the fuel flap and holder out with a plastic trim tool.

Three more torx20 inside the boot to remove the parcel shelf support right hand side to access the wiring plug

Refitting reverse of removal.

Due a service in about 20 days so I fitted a cabin filter and air filter. Need to get it on mates ramp to do the oil and filter etc

Got the rest of the service parts today, Shell Helix Ultra ECT Multi 5W-30 5L engine oil, Bosch fuel and oil filters.

Been round an ex-work colleague's place today to change the oil and fuel filters.

Normally I just remove the top lid off the fuel filter and swap the filter but he insisted we remove the whole filter housing so we can drain any water out and clean it out.

Ok fair play I thought... However when it came to leave the car conked out and was just cranking with low fuel pressure fault codes.

We messed around trying to get it to start, ended up 'giving it a sniff' of brake cleaner up the intake which it then fired up into life.

I left on my merry way and struggled to get out of his estate. Pulled into a side road, glow plug light flashing, no power.

Ended up being the fact we'd put 2 of the 4 or 5 fuel pipes that they have in the wrong place on the filter!! Swapped the 2 hoses around, cleared the codes and it started up and ran fine. Doh!
