Stupid electric fuel filler flap has decided to play up, it has not locked in the time I've had the car now it sometimes gets stuck unlocked or locked.  :stupid: :fighting2:

New actuator required, looks a bit of a faff to do as well.

Fitted new fuel flap actuator part from VW £45 + VAT.

Pretty easy to do, torx 20 screw inside the fuel flap then prize the fuel flap and holder out with a plastic trim tool.

Three more torx20 inside the boot to remove the parcel shelf support right hand side to access the wiring plug

Refitting reverse of removal.

Due a service in about 20 days so I fitted a cabin filter and air filter. Need to get it on mates ramp to do the oil and filter etc

Got the rest of the service parts today, Shell Helix Ultra ECT Multi 5W-30 5L engine oil, Bosch fuel and oil filters.

Been round an ex-work colleague's place today to change the oil and fuel filters.

Normally I just remove the top lid off the fuel filter and swap the filter but he insisted we remove the whole filter housing so we can drain any water out and clean it out.

Ok fair play I thought... However when it came to leave the car conked out and was just cranking with low fuel pressure fault codes.

We messed around trying to get it to start, ended up 'giving it a sniff' of brake cleaner up the intake which it then fired up into life.

I left on my merry way and struggled to get out of his estate. Pulled into a side road, glow plug light flashing, no power.

Ended up being the fact we'd put 2 of the 4 or 5 fuel pipes that they have in the wrong place on the filter!! Swapped the 2 hoses around, cleared the codes and it started up and ran fine. Doh!

Noticed a burning brake smell couple nights ago, passenger wheel was hot to the touch. Driver's side wheel was about 20 degrees on the laser gun, pass. side was over 100 degrees C! New front left caliper fitted from local motor factors (Apec) about £70. Sorted.

Just an intermittent P2015 code to fix now , Inlet manifold runner flaps fault putting the EML on, seen online can get a bracket machined to stop the inlet manifold runner motor over extending giving implausible voltage error.

Fitted the repair bracket to the inlet manifold runner motor, it's only 3 TX30 screws,  a lever onto the flaps shaft and a complete PITA spring, luckily you get a spare spring in the kit as that went walkabouts. No wonder the instructions show it being fitted with the manifold off the car as access to that spring is challenging to say the least. Anyway got it done and cleared the code, and no more EML on key on!  :jumpmove:

Had a breakdown last week. Drove away from home and got about 200 yards down the road and conked out. Cranked over and sounded like no compression! I got the top cover off the cam belt on side of road but couldn't look at belt and crank over at the same time as you have to press clutch to start. Phoned a mate to come tow me back, he looked at belt and said it was fine, he's a tech himself and said I wonder if your EGR has stuck. Put his scan tool on , no codes but EGR was showing 100% on live data, gave some hammer action to the EGR and eventually it coughed into life enough for me to drive it back home.

Ordered a new EGR from Darkside developments but as it was bank holiday didn't come till Thursday. Fitted it yesterday with my mates help, there's a really awkward torx bolt that goes through the ASV and EGR into the manifold, we dropped the torx bit a couple of times and had to fish it out of the busy engine bay :(

Got it all fitted and gingerly drove round the block to test, all good so drove a little further, all good done about 50 miles driving around last night.
