Squeiling/whining when on turbo. help!

Hi

Drove my ed 30 out of town to day and in 4th gear @ just over 2000rpm i planted it until about 4000rpm.  @ 3000rpm (when the turbo starts to really kick in) I heard this squeiling/whining (like a small belt slipping) along with the usual woosh of the turbo.  The power also started to die off briefly then came back on, until 4000rpm when i shifted up a gear.  After this I slowed off and did this a few more times to see if it would pass.  The squeil/whine is still there and the power is smoother again but still not right.

The car has a bluefin stage 1 and has done for at least 20,000 miles.  The previous owner tried to sell me an updated version of the dump valve which he took off the car before trading it in.  Could the original dump valve be the problem, hence the dip in boost/power??

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

It sounds like it could be your diverter (dump) valve. Do a search on here as there are loads of posts about this issue and the symptoms/problems you may experience as a result.

I'd go for the Revision G mate....Part number  06F 145 710 G. (about £40).

G is latest revision, ment to have a better seal over the D

OK...

So I took apart the DV tonight and its a revision G,  Checked the diaphragm and thers no sign of dameage looks fine.

What could be the problem???

After a test run, whe whine/squeil is still there and the turbo still isnt as smooth between 3000 and 4000 rpm

Tonight I got the car up on the ramp to have a look round the hoses to see if there was anything untoward...

There is a slight oil weep at different joints on the main turbo pipes.  If I am incorrect with naming the pipes please say...

This is the Joint at the Inlet to the intercooler(???)

And here is a few pics of the DV...seems ok to me...

Sealing face on the valve is in good nic.  Never took a pic of the diaphragm but its fine too.



This was a bit concerning but I'm assuming its a split bush thats meant to be split and it hasn't cracked!  You can see in the pic that there is a bit of wear where the split is, possibly the valve stem rubbing a bit???

Apart from this, my inexperienced eye, could see nothing else that looked potentially problematic.  Could someone please tell me if any or all of these things are normal??  Too me, if oil can weep from those joints then air must do aswell so that could be the issue?? and also if the valve stem/shaft is rubbing on the bush this could be restricting the valves movment and therefore won't be functioning normally???

Got my mate to scan for faults on vagcom and this is what came up...



Does anyone know or has had/seen this falt before?  According to vagcom its only happened twice but its a lot more than that!

Any ideas on whats up with the car???

Just found this on rosstech website.  Where is the charger pressure control located?  Hope its not the Turbo!

    Charger Pressure Control defective

Possible Solutions

    Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
    Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control      <<<<< WHERE IS/WHAT IS THIS???
    Check Turbocharger
    Check Diverter Valve

Special Notes

    When found in 2.0l TFSI:
        Check Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249), for cracked rubber diaphragm. A new/optimized Valve is available under Part # 06H-145-710-D (or newer).
            RoW vehicles see: TPI 2016331 for details.
            NAR vehicles see: TSB 01-07-70 or 2013392 for details.
        When stored in conjunction with misfire codes and/or fuel trim faults see the notes associated with the following faults regarding PCV failure: Crankcase Breather Valve
    If the Turbocharger is faulty due to mechanical / internal problems or the exhaust system is restricted (typically the Catalyst) this fault may be the end result.
    When found in VW Golf/Jetta (1K): 2.0l CR-TDI (CBEA/CJAA):
        Verify the mechanical part of the Exhaust Valve Control Module (J883) is not siezed or binding.

I've came to the conclusion that the N75 is the charge pressure control.  I can't get at it due to the turbo beaing right up against the chassis beam the runs along side the engine.  Has anyone ever had to clean/replace one of these on a K04 turbo?  Any help would be much appreciated!!!

I wish I could be of assistance but I really can't help when it comes to mechanics.
Give me a "How to" video on the laptop and I'd prob be able to strip a car and put it back together. But god forbid, if the laptop broke 



Come on Lads…..Surely someone here has some advice/opinions on the fault.

Fraid not. no worries!  I'm going to hav a look and see what needs to be done to get at the n75.  If it gets any worse I'll take it to a garage.  It'l be one of these faults that you are £100's  down the line with the garage and they're still none the wiser lol!  Would appreciate it if antone has had to do anything with their n75 and how to get in about it...
