Your first car crush?
« on: October 30, 2013, 04:12:17 pm »
I mean proper realistic one, not a dream Lambo or Ferrari, which was the first car you saw as a kid or whatever and said "I want one!" and did you ever get it?

Mine was the 205 Gti, absolutely loved them even had models and everything, got to 20yrs old and finally set off one day to buy a white 1.6 Gti, got caught speeding on the way ended up with 6 points and had to keep my Nova SR, never did get one and always regretted it. Maybe one day!!!
Laser Blue 3dr No 209683, Leather, Monza II's and a few other goodies...........GONE but not forgotten......now in an A4 S-Line Avant 170tdi......god I miss the Gti.

Circa 2002, I think. It was a MK4 Golf GTI that was in black, tinted lights, tinted windows, lowered with chrome rims. It was just so gorgeous. I always wanted to buy one. Then I saw the MK5 and fell in love all over again.  The more I read about it, the more I wanted it. So instead of buying a sensible MK4 Golf GTI for say £5k, I went and bought an ED30. And I loved it. Right up until that flippin' accident.  :fighting:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

My 1st love has to be the Ford Fiesta RS Turbo. My uncle had one and I fell in love . This was circa 1992 I think, I was 9 so had a while till I could drive but was very interested in hot hatches from a young age.

Few pics to reminisce:

Mad, mine was the 205 GTI too, after watching the Lombard RAC Rally when I was a wee nipper, for some reason I preferred them to the Audi Quattro's... belting through the woods in the middle of the night... surely I was too young to be out there, but I loved it.

205 GTI here too, ever since I liked cars.  Styling was ahead of its time IMHO and still doesn't look that old now, especially when you look back to other cars of its time like Vauxhalls and Fords.

Vowed I'd own one and got my first 1 year after buy my first car, a crappy 1.1 Renault 5!

Still got the second one I bought in 2003  :happy2:

Mk5 GTI Edition 30 - genuinely! I test drove one in around 2009 at B'ham VW. DBP DSG and just instantly fell in love with it. Still think it has the nicest interior of any PQ35 chassis car. When I bought my A3 in 2010 the only reason I went for an A3 rather than a Mk5 was the fact that by that point the Mk5 was the "old model" as such having been replaced by the Mk6. If it weren't for that I'd probably be in an Eddy now.

New target is the Cayman S now. I want one when I qualify from my degree in 2016. Hope to have saved enough for a deposit by then.

A 1.6 Ltr 96bhp 1985 D Reg Mk3 Ford Escort XR3i (in red obviously). Loved that car. Don't think I've got any pics which is a shame.

Bought it with every penny I had in 1989 and still needed to borrow more from my parents. Insurance was a very VERY belated afterthought, bit of a problem as it cost around £2k BACK THEN!!

Had a few cosmetic mods inc fully colour coding it, some 7 spoke 15" RS 1600i wheels, RS spotlights and fog lights  and also had fitted a dodgy windup sunroof which leaked and made the whole car smell damp.

Happy days

306 GTI-6, when i graduated in 2003, insurance was a no no, so i ended up with a 306 1.8xs as it was affordable, after 3 years of that i feel in love with all things VW, so ended up with a 25th anni for nearly 6 years, then ED30 for the last 2. Now its all things VW, im in love with MK1 GTI's and split screen campers now

My sister had one in Scotland when I was about 10 years old. I remember her leaving some bloke in a Fiat for dead at the lights. Next thing a policeman stepped out and pulled her in. Fiat driver drove past with a rather cheesy grin on his face. She didn't get a fine, after chatting the officer up (and maybe because the Scots and Irish like each other).

I've never owned a Mk1, but my Mk5 is alright I suppose.

Mine has always been a imperial blue Ford Escort Cosworth.

Back when i was 21, i was left some money and was on the look out for one, i decided against it though because i wanted to use it everyday and got told it would not be advisable.

I ended up going buying a Nogaro blue Audi S4 avant instead, still regret not buying the cossie :(
