I would stick with petrol but lpg it. Considering lpg is half the price of petrol, it would cost less to run a car on that than Fidel. There is just the cost of the conversion. Depends how long you would be keeping the next car.

I've always been a BMW and VW man. Mostly BMW, having owned 4 in the past 10 years. However, the Audi S4 just seems like a better proposition at this moment in time. The comparable BMW model is a 335i or an M3. The 335i is a beautiful engine, but we're talking about £29k plus for anything beyond 2011..and that's the old shape. The 4 door M3 is just too thirsty and the nature of it's power delivery won't suit what I need it for..as a family car!

So, if I go high end petrol power, that leaves me with only the S4 ( I love the looks of the estate version)
The Beaty with the Audi is, the shape hasn't changed by much..so if I go the way of monkey boy there, I can get a 2009 with the new engine for a fraction of the cost of a big BMW.

I'm just in the process of changing from a MkV GTI to a MkV R32. I was going to hold on to the GTI for a while longer untill I could afford a MkVI R but when an R32 in my ideal spec came into my local dealer it was love at first sight and I done the deal within 2 days. The thinking being that if I dont get one noe while good , low miles ones are still in the dealer network . I never will. My 'commute' is 2 miles each way though , or I could walk it in 25 mins if I wasnt so idle. ;)

My commute will be going up from 6 miles each way to 25 each way, so I reckon a V6 is out of the question :signLOL:

I'm thinking maybe a scirocco tdi, anyone with experience of them?

mk6 Golf GTD best of both worlds

+ 1

+2

Switched to the GTD last September and love it. Not as nice noise wise and a little slower off the blocks but pulls like a train through all the mid gears, plus the DSG is great (used to have manual GTI).

Terrible for condensation, especially on front screen - mines in next week to investigate. That and seeing the circles from the robot arms when condensation on screen

I'll be sticking with my MKVI R for now. Can't think of anything in my price range I would swap it for. The MKVII R EVO looks promising, but I would want to mod it and there is very little out there for it at the moment.
Golf R gone.

My short list for my next car is:

Golf mk6 r
Golf mk7 gti
Ford focus st mk3
Ford fiesta st ( the new one)
Ford focus rs mk2

ATM I'm leaning towards the rs just fancying something more in your face next time and that cracking 5 pot noise. Love that these people who are wanna be snobs in their BMW would look down there noses at you at the lights when your in a rs then you can take off like a hooligan and live up to your rep

Focus RS is slow off the line though and forget even trying if it is wet. I did consider one in the past, but couldn't bring myself to jump to F**D!
