eBay Scammer Beware!
« on: February 23, 2014, 08:05:03 pm »
So saw this lovely set of Recaro seats on eBay and thought I may as well see what the seller wants as the car was being broken

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151238371350&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

So I got a reply this morning saying he wants £475!

So I replied saying YES YES YES I'll take them and can collect tonight. So.. he replies saying sure but I have others waiting. So I replied saying I'll leave you a deposit to secure them. He was more than happy to do this but wanted a £250 deposit! This sparked something in my head so I decided to research his email address...

Heres what I found

http://www.focusstoc.com/forums/topic/226634-rs-turbo-l250/

A couple members being scammed on the Ford Focus ST forum in the past two weeks. Needless to say I will not be dealing with this seller. This is a warning for anyone who might have also messaged this guy. If this somehow turns out to legit then its my loss.

Beware people! and always research if you can.

Well, if you do a google search for the picture he's using to sell the auction, then you'd see where he got the picture of the Recaros from. Not sure if it's the same car or not, but i can't see a sunroof on it, and I'm suspicious about the 12 months mot.

Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

Definately a scammer as this car is at my work!!!! I work for Silverlake garage and the car in question is being sold on our auction site. He has stolen the pictures from our site.
The funny thing is this is the second scammer to use the same pictures.

THIS IS A SCAM!

These are the payment details he will give you and he'll tell you he's reached his PayPal limits so you can't send the payments via PayPal!

No unfortunately it was a bank transfer, I fell for the story that he exceeded his paypal limit meaning he would only be able to take a bank transfer. I didn't think twice about him being a scammer or not seen as I really wanted the lights as I know how quick they sell :sad1:

His feedback was also very good which is another thing that got me, but I was having a read on the ford focus forum and it states that he hacks into ebay users accounts with over 100 feedback and uses them to scam people
