Hi all
My seats are 2007 onwards as i only have one regulator. I have today swapped the looms over between passenger and driver seat (UK). The only plug now not connected is the blue connector 2 wire which i presume is seat occupancy sensor.
My real Question is I can see the brown wires on both the plugs but ive got different coloured wires. I just want to power up lumbar support for now directly to a fuse shunt. So i need to know which is the power wire on both seats if the brown is the ground.

Mk5 General Area / Mk5 Golf Gti has no terminal 15 power to fusebox

Hi. Noob looking for some help please. 2005 Golf gti 2l.
Car was running fine then all of a sudden stopped. No eml on dash Code error Po658. After checking for a while no power to Relays J271 and J757 :) Terminal 15 power i assume. Changed ignition switch and still the same issue, changed j519 relay carrier and still the same issue, checked the relays in j519 all fine. Had the Ecu tested and thats fine. Checked relays J271 and J757 fine, sb fuses are fine with no breaks but no power getting to some of them as well.
I have checked pin 86 on A1(J271) relay and 0v there, did the same with relay A4 (J757) also 0v. I do have constant live to pin 30 on the relays. If i jump pin 30 to 87 the car starts but runs rough.
Has anyone else had this or a similar issue as its got my head done in.

Got to work on the Golf a bit...

Changed the spark plugs and the induction coils. Went with the OE version.

It's quite a bit thing for me because it is the first time I've changed the spark plugs on a car. Quite happy with how things went.
BTW, saw some videos about changing the induction coils and I can say the technique with using a few zip ties to pull the coils out works great.

I also looked inside the cylinders and I think there is a bit of carbon buildup. I'll try to fix this in the future...

And, then I washed the car and took a few pictures of the new wheels.
I am using a 40 mm spacer (20mm per side) on the front axle (with the Kerscher fenders) and a 30 mm spacer on the rear axle (15mm per side).

I quite the look of the car. What do you guys think?

Get an amp clamp or a multimeter. Set it on the battery and measure mA. Then pull fuses with the car being locked and eventually you will find where your drainage is coming from.

Mk5 General Area / MK5 – Interior light stays on, battery drain
« Last post by t4jo on March 21, 2026, 01:44:31 pm »
Hi,

I have an issue with my MK5. Sometimes when I lock/unlock the car, the interior light (above rearview mirror) stays on and drains the battery.

Dashboard shows all doors closed. Problem happens only sometimes.

What I’ve done:
   •   replaced driver door lock
   •   replaced all wiring in driver door

Still the same.

When the issue happens, I hear an extra locking sound from the passenger side (like it locks twice). At that moment, the interior light stays on.

So I think it could be:
   •   passenger door lock (microswitch?)
   •   wiring in passenger door
   •   or comfort module

Also, question: how should the lock/unlock buttons on driver door work? (see picture)
On my car only the lower button (lock) works, upper button does nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks 👍

Remember when my ex gf had a new Edition 30 her car had a similar noise it was one of the rollers on the cambelt.

I would remove the aux belt and see if noise stops.

There's no unusual sounds when switching off.

The rattle sound doesn't start straight away on on start up, it seems to ease in as it warms up.

Ask the tester! Could be the console bushes, worth asking.
